ezMaster v1.0 release notes

General Settings

  • User should install v1.0 ezMaster/EWS switches
  • System cannot be upgraded to v1.0 if access point firmware version is below 3.5.x.

VLAN / Security / SSID and other Wireless Settings

  • VLAN/Security/SSIDs should be configured and be revised by users.
  • EnGenius will assist to integrate current 2.4GHz/5GHz SSID to be the single one if we find the setting parameters including VLAN/Security/SSIDs names are the same.
  • If VLAN/Security/SSIDs are different on 2.4GHz or 5GHz SSIDs,  v1.0 (c1.9) will create a table for discrepancies for the user to resolve.
  • Based on the above, the following condition should be followed:
    1) No. of SSIDs: No more than 8 sets
    2) VLAN ID: Each SSID should have an independent ID
    3) Security: Only the WPA2-PSK AES and WPA2-PSK Enterprise security settings are supported. Other settings including WPA and WEP will no longer be supported in v1.0 (C1.9). Users should configure password and security for the WPA2 series setting.
  • Other options will be remain unchanged from their previous settings. The settings for the 5GHz channel will be referred to as the default setting when upgrading to v1.0.

Captive Portal / Guest Network

  • Captive Portal options should be enabled under the Guest Network setting in v0.13, if you would like to move captive portal settings to v1.0.
  • On v1.0, the original guest network settings will be kept as the NAT mode. For IP, range settings will be set the default value. In other words, we will no longer provide settings options to customers.
  • Due to the limitations of RAM size, some models will only support 4 sets of Captive Portal / SSID functions if users would like to upgrade to v1.0. These models include EWS300AP and EWS511AP.

New Features

  • AP Traffic Log:
    1) The original “Remote Logging” function will be renamed as “ezMaster Remote Log” under global settings.
    2) “AP traffic log” functions will be put in the “AP Remote Log” under maintenance. The default of the function is disabled.
  • Captive Portal per SSID: All SSIDs can enable this feature.
  • Multi-Tenant: The master account can create administrator accounts and can assign administrator accounts to certain projects
  • Fast roaming: The feature will be supported on each SSID interface.
  • Band Steering: The feature can be enabled and disabled on each SSID interface. In the past, the feature was the global view on the 2.4GHz or 5GHz interface.

Changes / Removals

  • Client Isolation: The function will be removed in v1.0 and kept for L2 Isolation only.
  • VLAN Isolation/VLAN ID settings have been moved into SSID profiles.
  • Scheduler: Documentation updates and some corrections made.
